Follow Friday (9)

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read
The question that everyone was asked this week was:

What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaptation of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?

Every book. I am always nervous to see a film adaptation of a book that I've read because I've already got it all imagined in my head and it couldn't possibly be portrayed exactly the same way on screen. Although I was majorly excited to see The Hunger Games recently, I was also a little scared incase I didn't like it as much as I loved the book. I didn't enjoy the film as much as the book, yet I still loved it (much like the Harry Potter series and films).
Anyway, to answer the question properly, I am most nervous to see my favourite book adapted into a movie, The Perks of Being a Wallflower. IMDB states that filming has been completed, but it isn't released until earlier this year. I don't quite understand how they'll do this story justice on the big screen, but I do hope that they manage it.

  1. I'm excited to see The Perks of Being a Wallflower! Mostly because it's got Ezra Miller as Patrick, and that kid is just amazing. I'm also curious about Emma Watson. Not sure about Nina Dobrev in there, but I think she can pull it off. So yeah, I'm quote optimistic about this movie. :)

  2. Oh, I have never read that book.
I actually rarely worry about movie adaptations because I've been introduced to many of the books I love because of movies and mini-series :D

  3. I m super worried about this movie too...I just feel like they are going to ruin the magic that is this novel.

  4. I'm always nervous about film adaptations of books, and this book in particular. I hope it does the book justice, because I loved it when I read it!

  5. I agree it's always quite difficult, mainly with the books we love.

  6. Old follower here. I hope they do your book justice. My favorite book "Ella Enchanted," got turned into a movie and they completely bastardized it. Ugh. But you know Logan Lerman and Emma Watson are both very competent actors.

  7. OH! I need to read this book before the movie is released! I was not aware they were making a movie.

I wouldn't be able to answer this question - I enjoy the book to movie experience and am always curious how someone might translate a store to the big screen and usually don't mind too much if they do-over a few things.

  8. I am convinced that a movie (or even a trilogy of movies for that matter) would ruin The Silmarillion. So I vote for a television series and then such a story can be told in a format that wouldn't sacrifice content for a time limit.

Unfortunately this is an award and tag free zone - Whilst I appreciate the thought, I simply don't have the time to pass them on.

Please feel free to leave a reply, I read and appreciate them all!
